It has been owned for quite some time. There are a few scratches on the machine that you may be able to see from the pictures, however, it is generaly in good condition. This drum machine comes with the original owners manual and a power supply.

100 Preset Rhythm Patterns
40 ROM Preset Patterns, all of which may be called into RAM and edited or altered to create original rhythms. There are also 4 "break" patterns of different lengths to make programming easier, as well as 56 user-programmable pattern memories.

Rhythm Pattern Creation
Up to 100 custom Rhythm Patterns can be generated by editing the preset Rhythm Patterns or creating new rhythms. The Patterns can be recorded in Real Time Write or in Step Write (entering one note at a time) to create perfectly timed Patterns.

Visual Rhythm Pattern Display
Displays exactly what is being programmed in the Step Write Mode as well as playing it in real time.

Song Mode
Allows the combination of up to 999 Patterns in a single song, including intros, fills, repeats, tempo and volume changes. Up to 4 songs can be stored in internal memory, with a maximum of 512 parts and Insert, Delete and Copy functions make song editing simpler.

Independent Instrument Level and Accent
The RX21 allows the level of each instrument to be set independently to set up any balance required. Accents can then be added to any instrument on any beat, and the level of the Accent can also be precisely controlled.

MIDI Compatibilty
The RX21 is a MIDI Instrument, and can control or be controlled by other MIDI equipment such as sequencers, synthesizers, and tone generators. It can ne a pary of a fully automated digital music system, or can provide the synchronization signal which keeps the performance together.

Cassette Storage
Once all Patterns and Songs have been programmed into memory, they can be saved on a standard cassette tape. They are stored in digital data form and can be loaded back into the RX21 at any time, allowing for the creation of a library of custom rhythms.

The Rear Panel
The RX21 has a pair of stereo line-level outputs that places the drum sounds in stereo perspective, plus a stereo headphone jack that outputs the same signal as the stereo line outputs. There are also input and output jacks for the cassette interface and MIDI In/Out Connectors.

KORG DD5...for sale!

Excellent working and good cosmetic condition

The DDD-5 is a digital programmable drum machine from Korg from the mid 80’s with 14 electronic drum sounds including kicks, snares, toms, rimshot, closed hi hats, open hi hats, ride, crash, claps, cowbell, tambourine and cabasa and a couple of slapped bass style eighties ROM sounds. There are seven assignable Dynamic Sound buttons for triggering the sounds.

Programming the DDD-5 is fairly straight forward. Memory holds 100 patterns which can be linked or chained to form songs, for which there are 24 song memory locations. The drum sounds have editable parameters such as tuning and decay and for added groove in your patterns there are Roll and Flam effects. The DDD-5 is equipped with MIDI implementation making it an easy drum machine to use in any MIDI environment. If you like typical eighties drum sounds, the DDD-5 is a cheap alternative to the DDD-1 and other similar drum machines like the Roland TR-707.

ROLAND R5 Human Rhythm Composer...for sale!

In my humble opinion!...this and the R8 were the best all round modern drum machines ever designed...they had great sounds, really simple & easy to use, large pads, great feel to the pads!...I have owned both at one time or another and the r8 & the r5 were both brilliant!...they weren't my fave....fave...ever machine...that goes to somethin else! but all round being totally honest they probably were the best usuable/designed machines ever! wow now thats a sweeping statement!

The 16 drum pads all work 100% & are touch sensitive.

All buttons, sliders and switches work well with the exception of a couple of the function buttons needing a firm press. This isn't a problem when used in a midi set up but can be annoying when using stand alone. Should be easily repaired.
The writing on the top is fading in a few places but is still readable.

This drum machine pretty much does it all. It is a professional level drum machine. It's very easy to use, won’t take long to start making beats, but if you care to delve deeper into the parameters there is so much more that can be done.
As a stand alone drum machine it also features a sequencer for making song patterns from the individual patterns you create.
It has midi in, out & thru & can be used as a sound source with beats & other control data been sent via midi from a computer sequencer.
Along with the stereo outs there are an additional 4 separate outs (all ¼” jacks) any drum sound can be assigned to any out, making this unit very versatile in a recording studio.

The R-5 features 5 Pad Banks for a total of 80 sounds accessible (out of 94 max).
It has MIDI (In, Out, Thru), Tape In/Out, Footswitch jack, Phones jack, and six 1/4" outs (one stereo pair and 4 individual).
It contains 68 different instruments sampled at 44.1 kHz with a 16 bit dynamic range.
The pads are touch sensitive. 100 different programmable patterns can be stored and 6songs in addition to the 32 preset patterns.

CASIO RZ1 classic...for sale!

Another 80's classic on ebay! never a huge fan of this machine...but (sadly) always liked the look of it!!...kinda looks great nestled amongst other little masterpieces!...here's the sellers blurb!

A nice bit of kit at a great price, since Casio have always been Yamaha and Rolands leperous cousins! Also, its big and chunky, looks cool, and has nicely sized buttons for frenzied thwaking! The backlit LCD is nice for those badly lit studio / live sessions. And you can add sounds from any other drum amchine, so it'll never go out of date! The lack of fantastic sampling quality actually helps new sounds to sound beefier than before. GET ONE NOW!!!

Univox SR-95 Keio Minipops Mini-Pops MP-7 drum machine

That's a confusing title so let me explain. There were two brand names for this machine:
Keio Mini Pops MP-7
Univox SR-95
Keio later became Korg and the Univox brand was for the US market I believe. Is there a difference? Yes. The Univox SR-95 lacks one sound, the Rimshot. The cowbel sound is used instead. This affects the Bossanova and Slow Rock rhythms. Also, the Beguine pattern is different between them. Both machines use identical circuit boards however and it is possible to upgrade the Univox SR-95 to a Keio Mini pops MP7with the right know-how and the right parts. The one for auction is a Univox SR-95 with this upgrade.

Why upgrade it? Well, fans of Jean-Michel Jarre might know he used the Minipops MP-7 drum machine on his early albums. On Oxygene 2 and 4 for example he used a combination of Beguine and Slow Rock. Can you spot the problem there?

Please listen to this short demo (low quality MP3) of the actual machine I'm auctioning showing the affected rhythm patterns, and how they now sound identical to a Mini Pops MP-7. You will hear:

Classic Jarre combination: Beguine + Slow Rock (with quidaja and tambourine)
Classic Jarre combination: Rumba + Bossanova (with quidaja, Guiro and tambourine)
Beguine (now same as Keio Mini Pops MP-7)
Slow Rock (with Rimshot instead of Cowbell — same as Keio Mini Pops MP-7)
Bossanova (with Rimshot instead of Cowbell — same as Keio Mini Pops MP-7)

Here's a couple of pictures I took pre and post upgrade of the Rimshot sound. I also renewed the electrolytic capacitors on both boards as they can dry out over time which affects their value, but this wasn't really necessary in this case:

The unit is in good shape with some marks and wear and tear, but good for it's age. At some stage the rear compartment door has been lost. The sound is clean and clear, the sliders work perfectly without crackle. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
