FL STUDIO mobile!

If you're anything like me...you'll have used Fruity Loops & FL Studio!
Fruity Loops 2/3 to be exact has been a fave of mine for many years! having paid £99 for it many years ago!...and altho I'm not these days a regular user I still love going back to my old fave prog Fruity Loops from time to time and make some tracks, I have FREE lifetime updates and probably have every update from the last 10 years or so the later FL Studio never quite had that simple interface usability that I initially loved about the program...I bought it initially just because I wanted a simple PC based drum machine but got a lot lot more...anyway enuff of my LIFESTORY with Fruity Loops my point of this post IS they have now released a mouthwatering iPad/iPhone & iPod Touch version FL Studio mobile and I've got to be honest it looks amazing, with this and all the other great music stuff on the iPad...Korg are doing some amazing stuff! I think its now time to get out there and purchase that iPad!...altho why they have created this purely for Apple devices is a complete mystery considering Fruity Loops etc was always a PC program.....weird...but AWESOME!...!

FUNKBOX 1.0 mac ap!

This looks totally brilliant....read on for more from the makers of this sweet little item!....

Seattle based Synthetic Bits has released FunkBox Drum Machine 1.0 for iPhone and iPod touch devices. The app not only brings the functionality of the vintage drum machines, but also their quirks and rust, emulating six different vintage beatboxes and brings the sound, feel, and features to your iPhone. A variety of preset beat patterns, tempo adjustments on the fly, classic drum box sounds, a live mixer, and for those who want to really get in there a classic x0x style drum programming grid.

The idea for FunkBox came while Art was working on recording a retro-styled electronica album (Submodern’s 2009 release "Slowburn") where he used an assortment of old vintage drum machines from the 70’s and 80’s. Rather than mousing around with the latest drum plugins, or triggering samples from within a modern digital audio sequencer, he sat down and recorded all the beats for the album using those original dusty, finicky, and funky decades-old beat boxes, giving him a new appreciation for their quirky interfaces, classic sounds, and limited but inspiring feature sets. Synthetic Bits’ goal in making the FunkBox app was to create something similarly fun, funky, and easy to use.

FunkBox brings everything you need to make your own dirty, funky beats on your iPhone, anywhere you go. A variety of preset beat patterns, tempo adjustments on the fly, classic drum box sounds, a live mixer, and for those who want to really get in there a classic x0x style drum programming grid. Beat heads everywhere can use the Funkbox to drop dirty beats sampled from Synthetic Bits personal collection of coveted vintage drum machines: the Roland TR-808, Roland TR-909, Roland TR-606, Roland CR-78, Maestro Rhythm King MRK-2 (the drum machine that Sly Stone nicknamed "the Funkbox"), and Korg ER-1. Yep, all the classic beatboxes that were used on all your favorite old school electro, techno, hip hop and synthpop tracks, and that are still being heavily used and namedropped to this day by artists like Beck ("Bangin’ like an 808…"), Outkast ("I know y’all wanted that 808…"), the Beastie Boys ("…nothing sounds quite like an 808!"), and others.

Device Requirements:
iPhone and iPod touch 3.1.2 or later

Pricing and Availability:
FunkBox Drum Machine 1.0 is $1.99 USD and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Music category.

D-TOUCH drum machine!

D-Touch.org has released the D-Touch Drum Machine, a drum machine with a tangible user interface.

It is controlled by placing and arranging physical objects on an A4 piece of paper, which we call the interactive area.

The interactive area is arranged in 11 rows, each row corresponds to a different sound, as indicated by the text labels. The horizontal position of the blocks on the interactive area determines the timing of the sound trigger within the loop.

You can find detailed instructions on how to assemble and setup your own D-Touch Drum Machine HERE.

Visit D-Touch.org for more information. Link via MusicThing @ Twitter
