LINN Electronics LM1, the 1st ever....for sale!!!

Linn Electronics LM-1 Drum Computer.
It is the very first model ever made by Roger Linn and has a serial number 00461 (0nly 500 were made).
Unit was tested and plays sequences (sometimes just bleeps), though it's very intermittent-it fails to load sounds, sometimes will freeze etc. Servicing is required to get it to its original working condition though we think that it may be that it's just the tape that needs changing (plus a general clean-up).

Needless to say it's a pre-1982 historic piece and very collectable!
NO RESERVE!
Unit is sold as it is.

This is THE classic drum machine of the 80's - it launched the drum machine revolution! The Linn LM-1 Drum Computer was created by guitarist Roger Linn and he used samples of acoustic drum sounds. At the time, they sounded great and much more realistic and they were a fresh alternative to the analog drum sounds of the '80's drum machines. About 500 LM-1's were made before the LinnDrum model appeared in 1982.

There are twelve 28kHz samples including: snare, kick, three toms, hi-hat's, tambourine, congas, claps, cowbell, and rimshot, but no ride or crash. There are also 100 memory patches! Patterns can be created in real or step time. An innovations of the time was the swing and quantize functions that appeared on the LM-1. The LM-1 is an historical synth that has a place in the sound of music from the heart of the '80's. Only 500 of these things are out there so don't count on finding one easily. It has been used by Phil Collins, Thompson Twins, Stevie Wonder, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, The Human League, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, John Carpenter, Todd Rundgren, Prince, and The Art of Noise.

AKAI MPC60 Roger Linn rare...for sale!

AKAI MPC 60 ROGER LINN RETRO RARE SAMPLER DRUM MACHINE

IN FAIR CONDITION FOR ITS AGE
OWN A PIECE OF MPC HISTORY

MPC60
The MPC60 was a 16 voice polyphonic 12-bit 40 kHz sampler / 99 track sequencer designed in large part by Roger Linn after Linn Electronics closed. It was similar to the Linn 9000. Akai released it in 1988. It had 750 kB memory standard, expandable to 1.5 MB. The sequencer is very flexible and powerful, famous both for its "swing" setting, and its easy to use step programming. It had 2 MIDI inputs / 4 MIDI outputs, allowing it to control up to 64 devices. The sequencer itself was offered as a separate product, known as the ASQ10, also released in 1988. The MPC60-II was nearly identical to the MPC60, but it featured a headphone output, and a plastic case, instead of the metal case of the original. It was released in 1991.

Features
16 velocity sensitive pads
4 pad banks (64 voices per program)
sampling rate of 40 kHz (freq response 20 Hz - 18 kHz)
16-bit ADC and DAC, with data stored in special non-linear 12bit format (for lower noise)

LINN Drum LM1 Vintage RARE...for sale!

This listing is for a Linn Drum LM-1 drum machine. THE ultra rare vintage box! The unit is 100% functional and I just had it gone through by Bruce Forat and it's got a clean bill of health. This one is serial #25 which was hand built by Roger himself. Bruce gave me the scoop that there were 3 revisions of the LM-1 and that the first run has a noticeable "larger" sound and was the most popular of all three rev's. Don't miss the chance to own a piece of history and have 1/600th (or so) of all the Linn's in the world :)

VINTAGE Linn LM1 made famous by Prince, Human League!

We buy, sell & trade vintage analog synthesizers, but you probably knew that already. Here's an improvised performance on an original Linn Drum Computer LM-1 we recently sold to a well known musician. The cover's off as I was doing a final inspection and test before shipping it out. These Linn sounds were all over 80s synth records, especially Prince and Human League albums. We've got another LM-1 in stock that we will probably put on the market soon. If you look closely, you'll see a vintage Emu modular synth in the background. We love our modular synths. Enjoy, and email us anytime at minime123@onebox.com originally posted by 123synthland

LINNDRUM vintage by Roger Linn...altered!

Here's a beautiful LM-2 Linndrum we just put up for sale. Thoroughly testing what we sell is a big part of our preparation process. And sometimes it's actually fun! :) NOTE: the Linn here is being used in conjunction with another secret piece of gear - a Linndrum alone will not sound like this. We hope you enjoy the clip. We may take some ARP 2500 and Linn LM-1 clips soon, if we can find the time.

THE LinnDrum II Rethinking a classic beatbox!

Roger Linn (the inventor of the programmable digital drum machine) and Dave Smith (creator of the Prophet 5 polyphonic synthesizer) have teamed up to introduce the LinnDrum II, 26 years after the original revolutionized the music industry.
Roger Linn unleashed the LM-1, the first programmable drum machine that played digital samples, in 1980. It cost $4,995 and allowed well-heeled electronic musicians to make all manner of percussion sounds without requiring the assistance of a real, live drummer. The LM-1 was upgraded to become the LinnDrum in 1982, with 15 acoustic samples (the sounds for the early Linn machines were captured at a sampling session featuring session drummer Art Wood). Linn machines are famed for their shuffle feel and plethora of individual voice outputs to make studio work easier. Thousands were produced before falling victim to low cost Japanese rhythm machines. Linn himself moved on to create the revolutionary AKAI MPC series.
The LinnDrum II will be sold in two different configurations. The basic 'LinnDrum II' will be a digital drum machine. The 'LinnDrum II Analog' will add four voices of Dave Smith's Curtis-chip based analog synth circuitry inside the box, which promises to be a deadly combination. The machine offers 16MB of internal sound memory and there's a compact flash slot on the back panel for adding more sounds. Fans of Roger Linn's later Akai samplers will be pleased to know that the new machine features velocity and pressure-sensitive pads and both MPC-realtime and XOX-box style step programming.
Dave Smith's site reports "Inputs and outputs include four audio outs, two sampling/audio processing/drum trigger inputs, phones, USB, MIDI in/out, two expression pedal/foot switch inputs, and four additional direct voice outputs for the Analog model."
I can't wait. This looks like a must-have machine for well heeled electronic musicians everywhere. It's scheduled for a mid 2008 release.
